GROUND TRANSPORTATION
From Suvarnabhumi Airport
1. Train

The Bangkok Mass Transit System, commonly known as BTS or Skytrain - Passenger can opt to travel by train from the Airport Rail Link on the Basement floor at Suvarnabhumi Airport
and change to BTS Sukhumwit line at Phaya Thai BTS station. Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok is about a 1-minute walk from Saphan Taksin BTS station. Day passes are available for purchase
at the station. Daily Operating Hours: 06.00 a.m. - midnight

2. Public Taxi

Taxi services are available on the first floor of the Passenger Terminal Complex at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Though dense traffic in the center can make even short distances a long trip. Taxis cost approximately USD 1 for the first two kilometers, then about USD 0.10 for each kilometer thereafter, THB 50 surcharge also be applied when taking taxi at the airport stand.

Remark: Taxi goes by meter and accept only Thai Baht in cash

3. Hotel Limousine

If you would like us to arrange an airport pickup for you, simply provide your flight details and estimated time of arrival when you make your room booking online.

Please contact the hotel directly at least one day in advance.

From Don Muang Airport
1. Train

There is currently no direct train service from Don Muang Airport to Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok

2. Public Taxi

Taxis stand located on the ground floor of the airport terminal. Turn left once you exit customs and you’ll find the stand. Like at Suvarnabhumi Airport, a THB 50 surcharge also be applied when taking taxi at the airport stand.

VISA

WEATHER

The weather in Thailand is classified as hot and humid, with a long monsoon season. Thailand can be divided into three seasons: Summer (roughly March - May), the Rainy Season (roughly June - October) and Winter (roughly November – February).

LANGUAGE & COMMUNICATION

While Thai language is the official language of Thailand, English language could also be considered as unofficial second language as it is commonly used in Bangkok and major tourist areas.

Thailand has a tropical climate which is generally hot and humid. The weather in the month of the Conference is roughly around 26-33 degrees Celsius.

CURRENCY

The currency of Thailand is the Thai Baht which comes in both coin and banknote forms. Please check daily exchange rate at www.bot.or.th

TIME

Thailand Standard time is GMT+7. Thailand does not observe daylight savings.

ELECTRICITY

The standard voltage of power sockets in Thailand is 220 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz, which is a voltage standard for UK, Europe, Australia and most of Asia and Africa. Visitors from the U.S. and those not on the 220/50 V. should carry a plug-adapter kit.
